I’M SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE

I’m a Cincinnati-based wedding photographer and Super 8 filmmaker with a love for honest photographs, thoughtful design, old cameras, and the complicated beauty of real life.

I believe the photographs that matter most usually hold a little bit of both: artistry and humanity. A beautifully composed portrait can live beside the photograph of your dad trying not to cry. The tablescape you spent months designing deserves to be remembered just as much as the half-empty champagne glasses and heels abandoned beside the dance floor at midnight.

I’m interested in all of it.

Storytelling is my love language

HEY, I’M JULIA

SERVING LOVERS SINCE 2017

Photography first drew me in because of what it could make permanent.

Over the years, that fascination has only deepened. Weddings are full of things that cannot be recreated—the way someone reaches for your hand, the expression that disappears half a second later, the people gathered in one room who may never all be there together in quite the same way again.

My approach is documentary at its core, but never careless. I’m constantly paying attention to light, composition, movement and the visual language of the day while allowing real moments to remain real.

Sometimes that means stepping back completely.

Sometimes it means moving you into beautiful light, adjusting the fall of a dress, or giving just enough direction for you to forget about the camera again.

Knowing the difference is part of the craft.

AWAY FROM WEDDINGS

I’m married to Aaron, my favorite person to travel, cook, make music and do absolutely nothing with.

Our own wedding was intimate and deeply personal, and being on the other side of the experience changed the way I think about photographing them. I remember which things I carefully planned, but what stays with me most vividly is how it all felt.

At home, life includes an ever-growing record collection, two tiny dachshunds, Maple and Peanut, our cat Kiwi, a leopard gecko named Luci, and usually the same few comfort shows playing in the background while I edit.

I love getting to know the people I photograph, but I also believe trust is earned long before I arrive on a wedding morning. I want you to know that your photographs are being made by someone who is genuinely invested in them—and in you.

“Every moment spent with Julia felt like Catching up with an old friend. Our photos never felt staged, but sweet, raw moments caught in picture.”

three principles

01.observation over performance.

I’ll never turn your wedding into an all-day photoshoot.

When something real is unfolding, I let it happen. My job is to recognize the photograph within the moment rather than interrupting the moment to manufacture one.

02.direction with purpose.

Documentary does not mean leaving you completely on your own.

When beautiful light, flattering composition, family photographs or portraits call for direction, I’ll give it confidently and efficiently—then get you back to the people you came to celebrate with.

03.memory over trend.

I love fashion, thoughtful design and photographs with a strong point of view, but the work still needs to belong to you decades from now.

Trends can inspire the way something looks.

They should never become more important than the people in the photograph.

Tell me about the people, place, details and atmosphere you’re bringing together.
